Earth Data

Our own planet! The planet Earth is the only known place in the universe to hold life. The conditions for life are perfect on Earth:

  • It is just the right temperature.

  • It has an oxygen rich atmosphere.

The Earth is broken up into continents that 'float' on the liquid mantel below. The different landmasses are moving at different rates in different directions, so that mountains form where two are moving together and in the same way earthquakes are triggered when two slide past each other.
